Treating Endometriosis
In the course of female infertility diagnosis and treatment, Dr. Rispler and Dr. Berger will recommend fertility medications, super ovulation with intrauterine insemination – IUI or in-vitro fertilization – IVF to treat endometriosis.
If your doctor determines that you have a mild case of endometriosis, you may have the opportunity to try to get pregnant on your own, without the need for medical intervention.
Laparoscopic Fertility Surgery
Laparoscopic fertility surgery is the best way to diagnose and treat endometriosis, and your doctor may recommend this minimally invasive therapy.
However, we believe that medical or surgical therapy for endometriosis is successful only for the relief of pain.
Studies have shown that medical therapy does not improve infertility. Surgery for endometriosis is similarly not successful to treat infertility except in instances where there may be a mild adhesion partially blocking the tubes.
Endometriosis is classified in stages, from I (mild) to IV (severe), depending on the size and location of endometrial implants. Your doctor will provide a thorough assessment immediately after laparoscopic fertility surgery.
